Rise and Shine: CWIN's Refugee Festival Scotland 2024 Programme!

13th June 2024

We are excited to announce that the Refugee Festival Scotland 2024 kicks off tomorrow, and CWIN is proud to host two events as part of the programme, thanks to the support of the Scottish Refugee Council.

Event 1: Art Exhibition

In collaboration with Transmission Gallery, we invite you to our Art Exhibition from June 17th to June 20th. Join us daily from 11 am to 5 pm at Transmission Gallery, 28 King Street, G1 5QP, to experience the powerful artworks created by our Asylum Seeker and Refugees Art Group, led by Christina Kyriakidou. This marks our third year of showcasing the resilience and creativity of our artists.

When you visit, please sign our guest book and complete a feedback form to share your thoughts!

Event 2: Refugee Festival Celebration

Celebrate with us on June 21st from 11 am to 4 pm for our traditional Refugee Festival Celebration, in collaboration with Glasgow ESOL Forum. This vibrant event will feature:

  • A community meal with festive dishes from refugee and migrant cuisines
  • A bread-making workshop hosted by Glasgow ESOL Forum
  • A debut concert from CWIN's Ukulele Group, Gie's Peace
  • Circle dancing with NW Circle Dancing
  • And much more!

Additionally, you'll have another chance to view our Art Exhibition and support the Glasgow ESOL Forum by purchasing their learners' bread recipes book. If you have traditional attire from your culture, we encourage you to wear it and help us showcase the diversity and richness of our communities.

We hope to 'Rise & Shine' together, for a day of celebration, culture, and community!
