Last week marked 15 years of CWIN—and our English programme has been essential to our mission of fostering integration and building a stronger, more inclusive Glasgow.
Since the start of our current semester last August, 68 students from across six levels, from Literacy to Pre-Intermediate, have joined us for three days a week of ESOL classes. This is about more than language skills: it’s confidence, friendships, and new pathways for brighter futures. Through partnerships with Clyde College and ESOL Scotland, students that are at CWIN also have a stronger chance of progressing into further education.
Led by ESOL Coordinator Lia Nikolaidou and tutors from Clyde College and ESOL Scotland, our classes offer a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where language learning intertwines with Scottish culture and personal growth. As easy as ABC!

Beyond English, it has been over a year now that we have embedded numeracy into our teaching -- thanks to the support of the UK Government through the Shared Prosperity Fund, via the Glasgow Multiply Grant Scheme. We are incredibly proud that 96% of students in a recent survey reported they can understand numbers better in English.

Our ESOL programme is also funded by Glasgow Communities Fund through GCC and GCVS, and The National Lottery Community Fund, made possible by National Lottery players.
